Friends of the Wissahickon Collaborates with Chestnut Hill Hospital

Chestnut Hill Hospital will be a premier sponsor of Friends of the Wissahickon’s (FOW) work in the Wissahickon Valley Park in 2017.

“We are thrilled to be working with Chestnut Hill Hospital, a cornerstone of the community and an incredible asset to help support our work in the Wissahickon Valley Park,” said Maura McCarthy, FOW executive director. “Working together, we can highlight the amazing resource we have in the Wissahickon to the larger community.”

“The health of our community reaches well beyond the walls of the Hospital,” says Cathy Brzozowski, Chestnut Hill Hospital marketing director. “Our support of the FOW is one more way that Chestnut Hill Hospital can encourage wellness. Hospital employees and physicians live and choose to work in the area because of the park. Whether they’re running the gravel path, hiking the trails, or casting a line the Wissahickon provides a healthy outlet for the mind and body for the entire community. Our partnership is just a natural fit.”

Chestnut Hill Hospital will help support FOW events throughout the year, including the All Trails Challenge (August), Whispers in the Wissahickon (October), and other events throughout the year. Founded in 1924, Friends of the Wissahickon is a 2,000 member nonprofit organization and works in partnership with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation to restore historical park structures, eliminate invasive plant species, monitor watershed management issues, and restore trails throughout the Wissahickon Park.
