Jefferson Neuroscience Network
Chestnut Hill Hospital is a member of the Jefferson Neuroscience Network (JNN). Through this collaboration, Jefferson and Chestnut Hill Hospital provides some of the most sophisticated care and expertise available to patients with time-sensitive neurovascular diseases. By joining JNN, Chestnut Hill Hospital offers patients access to the resources of Jefferson’s comprehensive stroke center, including community education programs and protocols for the detection and treatment of stroke and other neuroscience disorders.
Chestnut Hill Hospital also has access to Jefferson Expert Teleconsulting (JET), a high-tech mobile robotic system, for remote consultations from Jefferson’s neuroscience specialists.
The JET network provides patients, their families and physicians with expert consultation from Jefferson neurologists and neurosurgeons experienced in treating time-sensitive neurovascular diseases, such as stroke, within moments – 24/7.
Chestnut Hill Hospital has a mobile robotic platform that enables the Jefferson physician to be remotely present. JET’s panoramic visualization system and easy-to-use control interface, offers safety and an effective interactive experience.
As a member of JNN, Chestnut Hill Hospital offers patients access to the resources of Jefferson’s comprehensive stroke center, including community education programs and advanced protocols for the detection and treatment of stroke and other neuroscience disorders. Our emergency providers and neurologists will work in collaboration with the experts at Jefferson to determine the best course of care for our patients.
The ER Physician at Chestnut Hill Hospital makes one phone call to Jefferson
Within moments, the Jefferson specialist on call uses a laptop to “beam in” and speak with the attending physician, patient and family members at Chestnut Hill Hospital, via the robot.
In real time and without delay, the Jefferson specialist obtains a medical history by speaking directly with the patient and/or family members. With the assistance of Chestnut Hill Hospital’s ER Staff, the Jefferson physician examines the patient and reviews the CT scans and lab results remotely. In consultation with the attending physician, Jefferson neurovascular specialists provide recommendations for immediate treatment.
Finally, a decision is made to either admit the patient to Chestnut Hill Hospital or to transfer him/her to a different hospital with the clinical expertise and resources to further treat the patient. Thanks to the JET program, patients often do not need to be transferred – they can remain and be treated very successfully at Chestnut Hill Hospital.
